The Nature of the Beast/The AdvoCat

Education for holistic & functional & behavioral approaches for pet care. Professional coaching in ancient medical, ecological & somatic paradigms

For nearly 30 years, The AdvoCat aka The Nature of the Beast has offered a multi modality operation serving animals, guardians and our wild planet.

Our holistic feline behavioral services are ACC gov recommended. This unique feline behavior niche was inspired in the 1990’s, due to a vacuum in feline comprehension, coupled with witnessing the widespread accepted methodology of strong arming animals.

We have coached guardians on sacred palliative and humane hospice for over two decades based on experience from a holistic homeopathic sanctuary, personal and educational training in the Himalayas & somatic perspectives.

For pet professionals, we have offered functional & TCM medical perspectives, as well as mindful, somatic handling skills.

For the Mountain Lion Foundation, we advocate for conservation, preservation and inspire public stewards to love and respect our American lions & the vital ecosystem.

Seen as a game changer, we come to the table with extensive experience rehabbing thousands of animals slated for medical or behavioral euthanasia, offering services locally & internationally in an effort to prevent pet abandonment. Years were spent serving at animal shelters, veterinary hospitals, both domestic and wildlife.

Flora, fauna & ecosystem awareness are also part of The AdvoCat’s wheelhouse.

Our employment history includes practicing TCM & acupuncture on site for veterinary patients. This was legally approved by California boards & left to veterinary discretion. Due to massive success with patients, the leading veterinarian asked Shanti to help train new veterinary staff on TCM theory, point prescription and applicable herbal formulas for their patients. Shanti also provided feline behavioral consultations for veterinary patients.

Using soulful, unique & gentle approaches not offered in empirical medicine, we aim to foster a steward’s innate and harmonious relationship with the sacred, natural world to ultimately enhance the relationship and life with your adored pet.

  • Shanti is a great combination of scientific/medical knowledge & pure compassionate heart energy. She is by far the best pet care person I have ever worked with, and I recommend her without reservation...

  • Our big beast of a cat is completely in love with Shanti and purrs like a kitten when she is near (as opposed to eviscerating growls when vet type people come near). In sickness and in health, Shanti is our go to pet care guru.                                                                                                                                               Shayla

  • She's a font of wisdom; you'd be surprised how little you know of cat care until she enlightens you.

  • The two sessions for my dog engendered such dramatic change. My dog was SO happy. Her spirits were light and free. I cherish those sunny end days in my memory always. All thanks to Shanti. She resurrected parts of my pet I thought forever lost. Shanti said she specializes more with cats, but i don't believe it, my dog Violet acted like she was an old crony and nuzzled her.

  • I had the pleasure of asking Shanti’s help several times. The first was a foster cat in The Urban Cat Project. This particular cat had arrived near death. She literally brought back to life a cat who probably had 24 hours to live.  Shanti does a great job at healing the animals and the animal feel this and respond accordingly. Shanti has a very professional demeanor, great hands on talent and unique skills, and I recommend her without reservation.
